The area covers 70 hectares and was developed since 1888 by A.R.Venning.

Situated in the valley of the Bras-Bras River, it is a beautiful area of greenery and undulating land that was demarcated until 1947 as a residential area for senior British officers of the colonial era.

Part of the river was dammed to create Sydney Lake.

The park was officially opened by the late Tun Abd Razak, the second Prime Minister on 1st May 1975. The park is located 1 km from the city centre.

A green lung strategically located near the city centre. It is surrounded by interesting buildings such as Parliament House, The National Monument all within walking distance.

Over the year, the park has expanded to an area of 92 hectares.
Is Lake Garden suitable for recreation activity?

Yes! The city folks use this park as jogging, Tai Chi practice and boating activity. This park provide washroom and shower facilities. This is very convenience to the jogger.

My daughter enjoys the shuttle service ride the most. It is a coach which pulled by vehicle similar the type which used to pull the aircraft.

As for us, we love to stroll in the park and enjoy the view of twin building, The Le Meridien and Hilton Hotel. I found the place is so relaxing despite the fact that this park is located in the middle of the metropolitan Kuala Lumpur.

You may need 2- 3 days to really visit this place. This is because apart from the Lake Garden, there are Butterfly Park, Bird Park, Mouse deer Park, and Orchid & Hibiscus Garden.

Besides these theme parks, you may want to visit Tun Razak Memorial Centre, Police Museum, Islamic Museum and National Mosque which are all located in this area.

Istana Budaya

Located at near by Lake Titiwangsa, Istana Budaya is the first theatre in Asia to be equipped with state-of-the-art stage
equipment.

Built at a cost of RM210 million, the theatre has a floor area of 21,000 sq.m., and is part of a cultural complex covering 5.44 hectares

The inspiration for the design (by Malaysian architect Muhammad Kamar Yaメakub) is a traditional moon kite in flight.
The main building takes the form of the Sirih Junjung (a traditional arrangement of betel leaves used during Malay weddings and welcoming ceremonies). The building is divided by function as in a traditional Malay house with its three sections: the ムserambiメ (lobby and foyer), ムrumah ibuメ (mother house) as the auditorium, and the ムrumah dapurメ (kitchen) as the stage and rehearsal hall.
The interior makes extensive use of Langkawi marble, while high-quality tropical wood is used for the doors, which feature hand-carved flower and leaf motifs. The lush carpets in the foyer and lobby feature motifs based on the cempaka flower and the beringin tree (reminiscent of a traditional Mak Yong performance).

Previous years, there were lots of pirated software and games being sold here.

Kuala Lumpur Public Transport

The other day I was asked to write about city. Since I have been here for more than 10 years . So, I was thinking on a topic to write...
Or what should I write...
Ahh...yes ! About the public trabsport in the city! You may wants some tips on this right?
Let see... Are you ready?
City Cab
Never negotiate with cab driver. If they try to ask for a price . Close the cab door and flag down the other one.
I always saw this happened to tourist or expatriate. And ohh... the local too. I felt ashamed of this bad conduct of the cabbies.Although they knew this will cause their taxi license being revoked by the authority.
I knew this , as I carry this type of license too.
Yes, I'm a qualified cab driver too.
I will provide some of the Kuala Lumpur taxi service numbers in other links..
But I can't say they are a good company. Because a good taxi driver make a good company image. I can't comment on that...
Bus
Should you need to ride a bus. Please choose SJ Bus or Selangor Bus. The conductors and drivers are more polite.
Other than these two... ? NO Comment ! Especially Metro bus.
If I can't write anything good, I might as well stop writing for this Metro bus...
Kuala Lumpur Monorail...
This is probably the most efficient and good public transport service provider . In fact the other rail service such Ampang Line ( Formerly known as STAR LRT) and Kelana Line ( Formerly known as Putra LRT) provide good service too.Only a word ( or rather a sentence) of caution : never ride this service during office peak hour.
Avoid morning 0700- 1000 hrs and evening 1630 - 2000 hrs ride.Other suggestion
Walking !
Yes, walking around the city. Kuala Lumpur is not a big city . The sightseeing in kuala lumpur city is best done by walking.
I will recommend doing the walking from 0700 - 1200 hours. And continue the journey from 1600- 2000 hours. This is due to the hot and humid weather of KL is not suitable for a lunch time walk...!
Well, that's all folk... I guess I should sign off now... Please leave your comment on this writing . I really appreciate it.... Bye for now!

Thean Hou and the Hainanese

Why Thean Hou is significance to the Hainanese ?

The Hainanese (people originating from the island of Hainan in China) were traditionally fishermen and sailors.

They prayed to and worshipped Tian Hou for safety and protection while they were at sea. This practise has continued even though their community in Kuala Lumpur no longer goes out to sea.

The people coming to this temple for worship are from a cross section of the local Chinese population (of all walks of life and various dialects). I think this is because there is Guan Yin which worshipped by other non Hainanese Chinese.
